Professor Channon's revised draft meets the points which he has raised, but I do not entirely agree to it and have prepared yet another alternative which keeps fairly close to his.
Professor Channon's letter has shaken me a little from the view which I expressed in the second paragraph of my minute of the 19th of October. He will be in the Office on Monday or Tuesday next and, if you agree, I should like this file to come to me then so that I may ask his opinion on the question of getting ahead with the appointment of your ad hoc Committee without waiting for any reply which the Asquith Commission may decide to send to this letter.
